About This Center

The Cyber Security Educational Center provides the community with information on our Cyber Security Program, courses, club activities and events. The Cyber Security Center provides links to give the latest information on cyber security vulnerabilities and breaches.

SMCC’s Cyber Security Program has been designated as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education by the U.S. National Security Agency (NAS) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The NSA and the DHS jointly sponsor the National Centers of Academic Excellence program.

SMCC is also a member of National Cyberwatch a consortium of higher education institutions, public and private schools, individual cybersecurity practitioners, businesses, and government agencies focused on collaborative efforts to advance cybersecurity education and strengthen the national cybersecurity workforce. Our involvement in these two programs ensures we are committed to provide the highest standards possible for the Cyber Security program.

Cyber Security Program

The curriculum is designed to prepare students for the most popular certification exams, which include:

  • CCENT (Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician)
  • CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate)
  • CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional)
  • CompTia Network+ Computing Technology Industry Association
  • CompTia Security+ Computing Technology Industry Association

Cyber Wolves Cyber Security Club

The Cyber Wolves are a Cyber Security Club focusing on cyber security issues, competitions and more.

Competitions

The National Cyber League
The NCL is a defensive and offensive puzzle-based, capture-the-flag style cybersecurity competition. Its virtual training ground helps high school and college students prepare and test themselves against cybersecurity challenges that they will likely face in the workforce. All participants play the games simultaneously during Preseason, Regular Season and Postseason.
