Think you may qualify?

Once you’ve been accepted to SMCC, fill out a NERSP application and send it to our Admissions Office. They’ll take it from there by reviewing your application and letting you know if you qualify. The review process usually takes only a couple of days, so you won’t have to wait long to find out.

Tuition Waivers

SMCC offers the following tuition waivers:

Senior Citizen Tuition Waiver

If you are a Maine resident who is 65 years or older, SMCC will waive your tuition. Once you’ve enrolled, just bring or send proof of your age to the Billing Office and we’ll take care of the rest.

Native American Tuition Waiver

SMCC waives all or a a portion of tuition charges for degree-seeking students who are Maine residents and who can document their membership or ancestry in a federally recognized Native American Tribe. The waiver is equal to in-state tuition charged to the student in a semester less any other grant aid awarded to the student. In addition to completing a FAFSA (www.fafsa.gov), the student must complete a SMCC Native American Tuition Waiver Application and submit it to the appropriate tribal office for certification. The completed and certified application must be returned to the SMCC Financial Aid Office. Download the Native American Tuition Waiver Application now.

State of Maine – Dependents of Veterans Tuition Waiver

If you are a dependent of a veteran, you may be eligible for waived tuition. To learn more about this waiver, visit the State of Maine’s Bureau of Veterans’ Services website.

Please note that SMCC’s tuition waivers do not cover fees. To view a breakdown of costs visit our Tuition & Fees webpage.
