Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) and Maine’s Community Colleges (MCCS) are strengthening student account security by moving to multi-factor authentication (MFA).
MFA adds a second layer of protection when you log in to your College account. In addition to your password, you’ll use a second verification method to confirm it’s really you. This helps protect access to your classes, email, financial information and other College resources — even if someone gets your password.
We’re asking all SMCC students to set up MFA now. Setup is currently voluntary, but MFA will become required for student accounts in the future. Completing the process now means you’ll be ready before that requirement takes effect.
Setup takes less than five minutes:
-
Go to https://aka.ms/setupmfa
-
Sign in with your @mainecc.edu student email address and password.
-
Follow the prompts to set up Microsoft Authenticator and complete the verification process.
