Nominate outstanding members of the SMCC community for A Light on the Point awards

The SMCC Foundation is now accepting nominations for the 2025 A Light on the Point awards, which honor individuals and organizations who go above and beyondLOTP IG Nominations in service to Southern Maine Community College. Award recipients will be recognized during the annual Light on the Point celebration on Friday, November 7, on SMCC’s South Portland Campus.

Held each fall, A Light on the Point recognizes alums, faculty, staff, and community and business partners who exemplify the College’s mission and values. The event also raises critical funds to support student success, both in and out of the classroom. Proceeds from this year’s event will provide scholarships, emergency assistance, campus improvements, and other essential resources that help students thrive and complete their education.

“At SMCC, we’re committed to meeting students where they are and ensuring they have access to the resources they need to succeed,” said SMCC President Kristen Miller. “Whether it’s financial support, upgraded facilities, access to technology, or connections to community services, these investments make a meaningful difference in helping students stay on track and reach their goals.”
