$2.2 million in federal funding provided to expand SMCC heat pump and plumbing training labs, powering Maine’s skilled workforce 

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine – Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) has received $2,236,600 in federal Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS) for a Heat Pumps Training Lab Creation and Plumbing Lab Expansion project, included in the fiscal year 2026 Financial Services and General Government appropriations bill.
