Welcome to Spring 2026

As the spring semester begins, we are excited to welcome both new and returning students to campus. Whether you are starting your1 academic journey, continuing progress toward your degree, or returning after time away, we are glad you are here. Faculty and staff across the College are ready to support you every step of the way—inside and outside the classroom—as you work toward your goals this spring. 

Navigating Registration & Add/Drop 

Need to adjust your spring schedule? Whether you’re swapping a section or adding a new elective, you can manage your course load through MySMCC. 

Important Dates & Refund Deadlines 

To receive a refund for any dropped courses, please note the following windows: 

  • Tuesday, January 20 (5:00 p.m.): Add/Drop and 100% refund period ends. 
  • Monday, January 26 (5:00 p.m.): 50% refund period for tuition & fees ends.

Need In-Person Help? 

If you have questions about your schedule or need assistance navigating the online tools, visit our Registration Labs. While these labs can assist with initial registration, they are a great resource during the first week of classes for making quick schedule updates and managing your add/drops.

Health, Wellness & Social Services Resources 

ARC Self-Referral 

Spring is a great time to connect with the support available to you at SMCC. Through self-referral resources, students can directly access help for basic needs, wellness, and life challenges that may impact academic success. The Advocacy Resource Center (ARC) offers confidential support, including assistance with housing, food security, financial resources, and health referrals. Additional Resources 

Beyond self-referrals, you can access various campus programs like mindfulness workshops and peer support groups. For medical needs, the health center provides primary care and immunizations, while our social services team assists with housing and food security.

TRIO Student Support Services 

At TRIO SSS, we help empower you to reach your graduation and career goals through personalized academic coaching, course selection support, and workshops designed for your success.  

Highlights of TRIO Resources: 

  • Success Coaching: One-on-one collaboration to create your college success plan. 
  • Academic Support: Assistance with course registration and developing skills to overcome challenges. 
  • Community & Connection: Peer mentoring and leadership opportunities to help you thrive. 

Need a creative break? Join TRIO Art Night every Wednesday from 4–6 p.m. to collaborate with staff and peers while learning more about our community. To learn more about what TRIO resources are available, visit your MySMCC. 

Learning Commons  

In-person: The Learning Commons on the South Portland Campus is open from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on Fridays. Online tutoring and other assistance may be available outside of these times. Midcoast Campus Monday-Friday: 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Career Development 

Career Development at SMCC helps students identify future goals and build professional skills. They offer career assessments, goal setting, and program alignment. Support includes resume and cover letter prep, internship searches, and networking via LinkedIn. Students can attend career fairs to connect directly with employers.

Welcome back! To help you get settled, the SMCC Bookstore has announced its Spring 2026 schedule and important deadlines: 

Extended Hours (Jan 12 – Jan 17) 

  • Monday – Friday: 8:00 am – 6:00 pm 
  • Saturday: 9:00 am – 4:00 pm 

Regular Hours (Resuming Jan 19) 

  • Monday – Thursday: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm 
  • Friday: 8:00 am – 4:00 pm 
  • Note: The store will be closed Monday, Jan 19, and follows all college holiday closings.
