Midterm Grades & Enrollment Dates

  • MIDTERM GRADES ARE COMING
    • We have reached the halfway point of the semester, and with that comes the submission of official midterm grades. These should be viewable by March 25. It is a perfect opportunity to make sure you know what you are earning in each of your classes.
    • You can find your midterm grade report by logging into your student portal:
My Maine Guide > My Degree, View your grades (under Quicklinks), Midterm-Final Grade Report, and enter this year and term (2020-2021, Spring).
    • If you have questions about a particular grade, communicating with your professor is strongly encouraged.
    • Remember, if you are not passing a course there is always the option to withdraw. The class would get recorded with a “W” on your transcript, and it would not impact your grade point average (GPA). If you have questions about how a withdrawal may impact you, please email or call our office (advising@smccme.edu or 207-741-5835).
      • The last day you can withdraw from a full-semester course is Tuesday, April 20, at 5 p.m.
  • MEET WITH YOUR FACULTY ADVISOR
    • Did you know that all students who are accepted into a degree program have a specific faculty advisor within their department? It’s true! April is Advising Month at SMCC and it is a perfect time to meet with your advisor. Introduce yourself, talk about your class selection for the next semester, discuss your plans for graduation and beyond.
    • To find your faculty advisor and their contact information: log into your student portal: My Maine Guide > My Degree and scroll down to Academic Information on the right-hand side of the screen. This will show your name, student ID number, and current major – directly below that information is your faculty advisor’s information. Connect with them today!
    • If you need their contact information you can look the professor up in our Campus Directory: https://www.smccme.edu/about/directory/#search
  • DATES FOR SUMMER REGISTRATION – Summer Classes begin Tuesday, June 1st
    • March 1 – current and new students
    • March 22 – open registration
  • TIERED DATES FOR FALL REGISTRATION – Fall Classes begin Monday, August 30
    • Registration for the Fall 2021 semester courses opens in April. SMCC runs a tiered registration schedule. It is based on how many credits you have already earned (not including the credits you are currently taking).
    • To determine how many credits you have earned you can check on your student portal, on the same page where you find your faculty advisor: My Maine Guide > My Degree and scroll down to Academic Information on the right-hand side of the screen.  For this, you would look for the Credit Hours Earned
      • 30+ credit hours earned: Monday, April 5 at 8 a.m.
      • 0-19 credit hours earned: Wednesday, April 7 at 8 a.m.
      • Newly Accepted Students: Monday, April 12 at 8 a.m.
      • Non-degree Student Registration: Monday, May 10 at 8 a.m.
