May 19–June 27, 2025, Monday–Thursday, 3–6 p.m. at SMCC’s South Portland Campus

  • Operation procedures of CNC lathe & milling machines
  • Metrology & basic measuring tools
  • Various metal cutting tools
  • Cutting speeds & feeds
  • Print reading

CNC Macro Programming & Probing | Precision Machining

July 7–25, 2025, Monday–Thursday, 3–6 p.m. at SMCC’s South Portland Campus

This course is designed as an intro to automation and Industry 4.0 for advanced students who earned an A in MACH-215 and MACH-265, or industry professionals with at least one year of CNC operations and a strong understanding of G code. Programming experience is recommended. View an informational flyer.

  • Different types of variables
  • Macro specific equation functions
  • Sub programs & passing variables
  • Implementation of macros within programs
  • Probing work stations
  • Probing & reporting part dimensions
  • Auto inspect & offsetting of tools & workstations
  • Custom macro programs for common material removal sequences
