Intro to CNC | Precision Machining
Gain hands-on experience with the essential tools and techniques of precision machining in this introductory course.
Learn the fundamentals of:
- CNC control panels
 - Operation procedures of CNC milling machine
 - Metrology & basic measuring tools
 - Various metal cutting tools
 - Cutting speeds & feeds
 - Print reading
 
Intro to Precision Machining
Get practical, hands-on experience in the core principles of machining and manufacturing. Participants will build safe work habits while gaining experience with essential equipment, including lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and grinders.
Topics include:
- Workplace safety habits
 - The basics of machine design, construction, & maintenance
 - Metal cutting processes & operations
 - Proper machining techniques
 - How to use precision measuring tools with accuracy
 - Teamwork & communication skills in a professional setting
 
CNC Macro Programming & Probing | Precision Machining
This course is designed as an intro to automation and Industry 4.0 for advanced students who earned an A in MACH-215 and MACH-265, or industry professionals with at least one year of CNC operations and a strong understanding of G code. Programming experience is recommended.
Topics include:
- Different types of variables
 - Macro specific equation functions
 - Sub programs & passing variables
 - Implementation of macros within programs
 - Probing work stations
 - Probing & reporting part dimensions
 - Auto inspect & offsetting of tools & workstations
 - Custom macro programs for common material removal sequences
