Southern Maine Community College student Nicki Fowlie was recently sworn in as the student trustee for the Maine Community College System Board of Trustees.
A resident of Appleton, Fowlie is a 2017 graduate of SMCC’s fire science technology program and is currently enrolled in the college’s paramedicine program. Fowlie is a graduate of Camden Hills Regional High School and is currently a live-in student with Goodwin Mills Fire and Rescue, located in Lyman.
Fowlie was nominated to the Board by Governor Paul R. LePage and confirmed by the Maine Senate after a review by the Joint Standing Committee on Education and Cultural Affairs. She was sworn in by the Secretary of State in April and will serve a two-year term.
The Maine Community College System’s Board of Trustees is the policy-making authority for the system. Under Maine statute the board consists of 13 appointed voting members, one ex-officio voting member, and one ex-officio non-voting member.
