Monday, November 20 is Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR). TDOR was started in 1999 by Gwendolyn Ann Smith as a vigil to honor the memory of Rita Hester, a transgender woman who was killed in 1998. This vigil has transformed into TDOR, an annual observance to honor all the transgender people lost to violence.
On Monday, the Diversity Programming Committee hosted a gathering in honor of TDOR. If you were unable to attend, but still wish to participate, you may visit the TDOR table in the South Portland Campus Center Noisy Lounge for more information.
