Held in the Ocean View Dining Hall, the event honored dozens of employees who reached service milestones of five years or more, as well as 11 retirees whose years of dedication helped shape the College and its mission.

The honorees represented nearly every area of the College, from academics and student support to facilities, public safety, workforce training and campus operations.

SMCC President Kristen Miller expressed gratitude for the honorees, noting, “The strength of our College is reflected in the people who show up every day with dedication, care and purpose. Our employees make a lasting difference in the lives of our students, and this celebration is an important opportunity to recognize the extraordinary impact they have on SMCC and the communities we serve.”

This year’s milestone recognitions ranged from five to 30 years of service. Gerard Zarrilli of English was recognized for 30 years of service, while Brian Hamel of Facilities Management, Tony Poulin of Culinary Arts and Cheryl Rich of Horticulture were honored for 25 years. Retiree Dan Abbott was celebrated for 37 years of service in Architectural and Engineering Design, and Earl Lamoreau was recognized for 33 years of service in Physical Sciences.

In total, 89 employees were honored during the ceremony for a combined 1,076 years of service to SMCC.

Congratulations to all 2026 honorees for their outstanding commitment to SMCC and its students.
