SMCC Athletics is excited to announce the completion of significant renovations to the baseball and softball fields located on the South Portland Campus. Thanks to the generous support of sponsors and donors, the College has made substantial improvements that will enhance student-athletes experience and beyond.
The project involved a complete overhaul of the 30-year-old baseball backstop, which had become unrepairable. The project included installing a new brick wall facade and updated netting. The Seawolves Athletic Club and a baseball alumni fundraiser campaign partially funded this project. The team at Great Falls Construction completed the project, significantly enhancing the baseball field with their high-quality work.
In addition, the College installed new scoreboards in center field for both the baseball and softball fields. Dave Ayotte and Associates and Bailey Sign Company expertly handled this part of the project.
“These upgrades are a testament to the incredible support we receive from our community, especially our sponsors and donors,” SMCC Associate Dean of Athletics and Alumni Affairs Matt Richards said. “Their contributions directly impact the quality of our athletic facilities and the experiences of our student-athletes. We extend our deepest gratitude for the continued support on behalf of all of SMCC, from employees and students to athletic staff and student-athletes.”
The upgrades have been completed and are ready for use starting this fall.
