VIRGINIA BEACH, Virginia (SMCC Athletics) – The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) Seawolves Women’s Soccer team has advanced to the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Women’s DII National Championship game.
The Seawolves punched their ticket to the championship game by beating the NHTI Lynx in the Pool A Final Sunday 2-0. The Seawolves got goals from Desiree Veilleux (Winslow, ME) and Chanelle McDonough (Gorham, ME) to secure their chance at a title.
SMCC Student Life and SMCC Athletics will host a Championship Game Watch Party in the South Portland Dining Hall Monday, November 14 at 12:30 p.m. All are welcome and any student without a meal plan will get lunch on us!
The Seawolves will face fellow Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) member Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences Panthers. Any fans that can’t attend the Watch Party can live stream the game on the USCAA Sports Network.
Associate Dean of Athletics and Alumni Affairs Matt Richards is excited about the opportunity to bring home another USCAA National Championship.
“The women’s team has been a pillar of success this season. They have managed through adversity and have played their best soccer at the right time of year. I’m very excited and proud of them and will be glued to the stream watching the championship. Let’s go, Seawolves!”
The Seawolves and the Panthers faced off one time this season, September 24, at the Wainwright Athletic Complex in South Portland, Maine. The Seawolves and Panthers tied 2-2 in that game.
Again, if you can make it, head over to the Dining Hall at 12:30 p.m. for a Championship Game Watch Party or you can live stream the game by visiting the USCAA live streaming website at www.USCAASportsNetwork.com. There is a viewing fee for the championship game.
