Southern Maine Community College students now have access to Genio, a new study and note-taking tool designed to make it easier to capture, organize and review information from class.
DOWNLOAD APP: iOS | Google Play

Genio allows students to record lectures and turn those recordings into written transcripts and outlines that can be used for studying and review. The platform also includes built-in tools that allow students to test their understanding of course material through quiz-style questions.
Among Genio’s features are:
- Record lectures and review them later
- Convert recordings into written transcripts
- Turn transcripts into organized outlines
- Create quiz-style study activities to test understanding
- Follow lectures with real-time captions
- Access captions and transcripts after class
- Create captions, transcripts, outlines and quizzes in more than 30 languages, including Spanish, Portuguese and French
The multilingual features can be especially helpful for students who are more comfortable learning or reviewing material in a language other than English.
Genio will soon be integrated directly into Brightspace. Until that integration is complete, SMCC students can create their Genio accounts using the College’s Genio QR code.
Students will also see Genio QR codes posted in classrooms on both the South Portland and Midcoast campuses.
Genio is free for SMCC students. Visit www.smccME.edu/genio to sign up today.
