Keynote Speaker: To Be Announced

Attention Students!
Commencement is right around the corner and it's important to be prepared for the big day, so make sure you check here for information about your graduation. This page will be updated frequently.

No tickets are required for Commencement. There are plenty of seats available for relatives and friends! Doors open at 12:45 pm. (Download a diagram of the Civic Center.) Printed announcements with envelopes are available for sale at the SMCC Bookstore in the Campus Center.

Event parking for students and their guests is available at the municipal garage adjacent to the Cumberland County Civic Center.

A letter with detailed information (Download the letter) about the ceremony was mailed on or around March 22 to students who have applied and are eligible to participate.

IF YOU HAVEN'T APPLIED TO GRADUATE, IT'S TOO LATE TO GET YOUR DIPLOMA ON MAY 16! However, if you qualify to graduate, you may be able to participate in Commencement. You must submit a graduation application (Download a graduation application) to Enrollment Services. Eligibility to participate in Commencement can only be determined once you have applied to graduate.

FOR THOSE STUDENTS WHO'VE ALREADY APPLIED TO GRADUATE:
Check the SMCC portal (login required, go to Students tab) to see your status. If you have questions about your status, please contact Enrollment Services.

IF YOU'VE ALREADY APPLIED TO GRADUATE BUT SAID YOU WILL NOT PARTICIPATE IN COMMENCEMENT AND HAVE SINCE CHANGED YOUR MIND, please contact Enrollment Services.

PLEASE PICK UP YOUR CAP AND GOWN on Thursday, April 29, from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM in the Dining Hall.  Come and enjoy our FREE SpringFest Barbeque on that day and pick up your cap and gown at the same time!  If you miss this opportunity, you may pick up your cap and gown in the New Residence Hall May 3-7 from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. After that, you can pick them up at the Civic Center after 12:45 PM on Sunday, May 16, 2010.  You will not be able to pick up your cap and gown if you have a financial obligation to the College.  If you are unsure of your status, please check your bill online or contact Student Billing at 741-5661.

ON GRADUATION DAY, you need to report to the Cumberland County Civic Center no earlier than 12:45 PM and no later than 1:15 PM.  When you arrive, please go to the Spring Street Concourse, where tables will be set up (alphabetically by last name) for you to pick up your index card. After getting your index card, please proceed to the back of the stage, where you will find your program’s banner. Graduating students will line up and process in by program.  If you are graduating with two degrees, you will have two index cards to pick up and may choose to go up to the stage twice, once for each major.

When you are called to the stage during the ceremony, you will receive an empty diploma cover.  As you recess from the ceremony, please follow the marshals, who will lead you to the Spring Street Concourse, where you will pick up your diploma. (This is the same place where you picked up your index card before the ceremony.) If you applied to graduate after February 22 or have credits remaining to complete your degree, you will not have a diploma to pick up.  Diplomas will not be available until the completion of the ceremony.

PLEASE CONTACT THE STUDENT SERVICES OFFICE (741-5505, Option 3) IF YOU OR ANY RELATIVE NEEDS SPECIAL ACCOMMODATIONS OR SEATING.  There will be an interpreter for the hearing impaired at the graduation ceremony.

Let your loved ones know you're graduating! Graduation announcements are available for purchase in the SMCC Bookstore. Supplies are limited and sold on a first-come, first-served basis.

Rose Sale: On the day of the ceremony, your family and friends can purchase roses from the Phi Theta Kappa table located in the lobby of the Cumberland County Civic Center.

Help Battle Hunger: Phi Theta Kappa will be collecting non-perishable, canned goods on the day of the ceremony. Please help feed those in need by bringing donations to the table located in the Civic Center Lobby.
