Southern Maine Community College has a vibrant campus life, including a number of student clubs and organizations. Students who are active participants in the life of the college are more likely to persist and be successful in college. Getting involved provides an opportunity to build connections with fellow students and with faculty and staff and to develop lifelong friends and mentors. No matter what a student’s interest, the college provides an opportunity to get involved. From student government, honors and community service societies, technical and trade organizations, music groups, the student newspaper and literary magazine to intercollegiate athletics, there is something for everyone.
Beyond the classroom, there are academic, political, social, religious, and recreational clubs available, ranging from the Student Senate and art club to the Multicultural & International Students club.
Clubs and organizations provide students opportunities for social interaction, recreation, leadership training and enhancement of academic interests.
Whether you're looking for a group that emphasizes ethnic or cultural heritage, political involvement, environmental issues, or hobbies, clubs and organizations are an important part of campus life. Joining a club is a good opportunity to meet other students, and enhance your academic interests.
