SMCC is proud to announce a unique opportunity to take a University of Southern Maine course on the SMCC campus through a collaborative cross-registration initiative with the Greater Portland Alliance of Colleges and Universities, of which both institutions are members.

Cross-registration benefits students at Alliance member schools by expanding the number and kinds of courses available to them. Cross-registration supplements the course offerings at each member school, so that students may take courses that would not otherwise be available to them.

This fall, SMCC students can take Statistics in Psychology on the SMCC South Portland campus.

PSY 201D -- Statistics in Psychology
This course will provide students with an introductory survey of the terminology, methodology, and many of the statistical procedures (e.g. correlation, hypothesis testing, descriptive measures, t-tests, etc) psychologists use to investigate psychological phenomena.  For psychology majors, Statistics in Psychology serves as a foundation for more advanced courses (e.g. Research Methods, Advanced Statistics), facilitates an understanding and interpretation of the experimental psychology literature, and assists students in becoming better critical thinkers.  For non-psychology majors, Statistics in Psychology can help students understand and evaluate experimental literature in other fields in addition to augmenting critical thinking skills.
  • Pre-requites: MAT 050 or equivalent
  • Instructor: Ken Gardiner
  • Day and Time: T/Thurs, 3-4:15 pm
