The Southern Maine Community College Foundation is an independent, non-profit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization comprised of business and community leaders and college staff and faculty. The Foundation raises funds to create and enhance academic programs, renovate and modernize facilities, purchase equipment, and provide scholarships for students.
The Foundation is dedicated to assisting the College in meeting its current and future needs by:
- securing private and public funds for student scholarships, faculty and staff professional development, program development and capital projects;
- enhancing community awareness of the College and Foundation;
- strengthening partnerships between the College and state and local communities and businesses; and providing prudent fiscal management of funds and equipment contributed to the Foundation.
Incorporated in 2000, the SMCC Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors. The Foundation's assets are managed by the Board and are independently audited annually. Private contributions ensure that the College is able to keep its pledge of providing increasing academic excellence and expanding business and industry services. All gifts are tax deductible as allowed by law.
