What is Distance Education?

Distance Learning (DL), also known as Distance Education (DE), is simply learning that happens when the student and the teacher are not together in the same place at the same time, usually while the student is at home, or in a conveniently located off-campus site. DL allows students to earn college credits without ever leaving home. Southern Maine Community College makes use of a variety of media for delivering their DL courses; the web and email, software aplications, CD's, DVD,s and mobile devices..
