Located directly on the ocean with spectacular views of Casco Bay, the McKernan Hospitality Center offers truly unique function space for business meetings and private parties. Built in 1902 as a Double Officer's Quarters, the building is one of many components of the former Fort Preble, which protected Portland Harbor from the Revolutionary War through World War II. Through the generosity of the voters and many private citizens of Maine, the building was renovated and restored in 1993 to be utilized as an educational training facility for the students in the SMCC Culinary Arts and Lodging & Restaurant Management programs. The Center features an enclosed wrap-around porch with views of the Atlantic for parties of 5-40, plus an adjoining master dining room with an additional 60+ seats for larger receptions or meetings. Looking for a more traditional classroom setting? Join us in one of our two main conference rooms, with all the support technology required for a successful meeting. When the day is over, relax and take comfort in our overnight guest accommodations located on the 2nd and 3rd floors. Amazing views, flexible function space, customized food & beverage and overnight accommodations. The Peter A. McKernan Hospitality Center has it all.
