10/20/09 - Women's Soccer Season Ends By Way of Penalty KicksSouth Portland - The woman's soccer team dropped a heart breaker in the YSCC playoffs against number one ranked NHTI-Concord's Community College. The Seawolves lost in penalty kicks after battling through overtime by a score of 3-3. The Seawolves women finished with an overall record of 4-6-1 and look to continue to improve. Leaders for SMCC were Morgan Crespo (Chelmsford, MA). She led the team with 11 goals and one assist for 23 total points. Taylor Graves (Windham, ME) had seven goals and four assists while Lyndsey Nyitray (Old Orchard Beach, ME) put up five of her own. Goalkeeper Kellie Melancon (Lyman, ME) had 65 saves in net. Women's Soccer wraps up season with an overall record of 4-6-1.
09/19/09 - Seawolves fall to NHTISouth Portland - The SMCC women's soccer team hosted the Lynx of NHTI on Saturday. NHTI took away the 2-1 victory over the Seawolves. NHTI moves to 3-2-1 on the season while SMCC has shown improvement but their record falls to 0-4-0 overall. Alexandra Merwin scored her first of two goals in the 21st minute for the Lynx. Andrea Drewniak was credited with the assist. The Seawolves came back with a goal of their own in the 36th minute of the first half. Danielle Dicks passed to Morgan Crespo who then put it in the net. NHTI would answer again in the 51st minute thanks to the same combination as before. That's all NHTI needed as they sneak out with the 2-1 victory over the Seawolves. The Seawolves next game will be home Thursday, September 24 as they take on St. Joseph's College at 4:00pm. 09/18/09 - Women's Soccer Lose in Double OvertimeAugusta - SMCC women's soccer was on the road this Thursday afternoon as they played UMaine- Augusta. The game was close the entire way, but UMA was to strong as they pulled out the win 4-3 in double overtime. The Seawolves fall to 0-3-0 this year and UMA moves to 2-1-0 on the year. Jessica St. Amand scored three goals in the first half as UMA took the lead going into halftime 3-2. SMCC would come out strong in the second half thanks to Maia Snow's one goal and two assists. However, it was not enough as Jenn Lola's goal with 30 seconds remaining in double overtime gave UMA the 4-3 victory over the Seawolves.
