SMCC Athletics:  Hires Head Golf Coach

SMCC Hires New Golf Coach

 

SOUTH PORTLAND, ME – Southern Maine Community Colleges Athletic Director, Matt Richards, announced the hiring of Matthew Greenleaf as the new Head Golf Coach.  Greenleaf will take the place of Dennis Junkins who served six seasons in the position before resigning this spring.

“I’m very excited about bringing Matt to SMCC.  He has a tremendous amount of energy and enthusiasm and I think the golf program will see an immediate positive impact.  I look forward to what the future holds for the golf program,” stated Richards

Greenleaf brings with him plenty of experience and knowledge of the game and the local golf community.  His most recent stint was as a sales executive for the Northeast Region of Sports Vision Technologies where he taught golf clinics and seminars to demonstrate the P3ProSwing. 

When asked what his expectations are for the golf team, Greenleaf said, “I am looking forward to building a strong golf program where the team will be competitive and will compete for the Yankee Conference Championship each year.”

A native of Portland, Maine, Greenleaf is a 2005 graduate from the University of Maine at Farmington with a degree in Business Administration – Marketing and Athletic Management.  Greenleaf’s athletic career included two and a half years enrolled through the Professional Golf Management Program at Methodist College in Fayetteville, North Carolina before transferring back home to Maine to play two seasons as a member of the UMF Golf team.

Athletic Director, Matt Richards and the athletic department would like to welcome Matthew Greenleaf to the family.
