MCP Web-Based Career and Education Planning System PDF Print E-mail

MCP is designed to provide students with personalized career and education exploration and planning. It provides the following resources:

  1. Self Assessment: You begin by assessing your interests, values, skills and personality through a series of reliable and valid self assessment instruments.
  2. Career Exploration: You can research occupations that match your self assessments. The database includes detailed information on 1100+ different careers. As you explore different career options, you have the ability to save careers and record your own comments. Additional tools are provided to summarize results and help you narrow down your options.
  3. College Search: You can research 4 year colleges/universities to explore your transfer options. The database currently includes detailed information on 7,200 post-secondary institutions. Search options include location, type of school, tuition, enrollment, major areas of study, athletics, & extracurricular activities.
  4. Online Portfolio: MCP includes a dynamic electronic-portfolio builder that not only reports back information about your assessments, careers and education possibilities, but also captures information about career objectives, educational plans, and personal achievements, information that is considered crucial in the career exploration and education planning process.
  5. Job Search: If you are getting ready to enter the workforce, Resume and Cover Letter writing tips will prepare you on how to approach the job market. You can then use links to local and national job banks, newspaper classified ads, and industry specific job openings.
