The associate in arts degree in Liberal Studies with a concentration in
Science is designed to provide a foundation of study that prepares
students to transfer to four year colleges and universities. The
curriculum is built on a foundation of general education classes,
supplemented with laboratory science courses, to develop depth in the
prerequisite knowledge required for further scientific study at the
baccalaureate level.
AdvantageU
The AdvantageU Program
is a guaranteed admission program between Southern Maine Community
College students graduating with an associate in arts degree in liberal
studies and the University of Maine System (UMS). The goals of this
agreement are to provide qualified students, upon graduation with an
associate in arts degree in liberal studies, with the following:
- Guaranteed admission and registration at junior standing at a UMS university.

Seamless transition from SMCC to an UMS university.

Transfer of a minimum of 60 credits.
