careertechnical.jpgSouthern Maine Community College's career and technical programs are designed to prepare you for a high-skill, high-wage, high-demand career in the real world, and prepare a foundation for further educational pursuits. Our career and technical programs combine hands-on educational opportunities with critical thinking and communication skills valued by employers. As a student in SMCC's career and technical programs you'll spend more than 50 percent of your time working in lab, clinical, or other hands-on settings, and get direct experience working with the people and technologies of your chosen profession. Many programs involve fieldwork or cooperative classes that draw on the resources of other area colleges, businesses and health facilities.

Career Opportunities

Our changing workforce requires individuals who demonstrate versatility, academic competence, and the ability to creatively problem solve. SMCC's career and technical programs prepare you for a wide variety of careers with nearly 90 percent of graduates finding employment in their field. What's more, many of SMCC's programs transfer credit to four-year colleges and universities, allowing you to pursue further education while working in your field.
