Mind Over Metal Camp July 6-10 PDF Print E-mail
Through fun, high-energy experiential learning, the Mind Over Metal summer camp, July 6-10, 2009, teaches youth ages 14-16 that manufacturing is an exciting and viable career. Participants acquire machining and welding skills by creating projects using state-of-the-art equipment. According to the Report of the Governor's Community College Advisory Council, Maine has a shortage of skilled workers in virtually every major industry. This summer camp experience is a stepping stone to an education leading to a manufacturing career, and participants will discover that they can succeed when given the tools and training to do so.

Activities include:
  • Tour of a Machine Shop and a Welding Facility
  • Machine Shop Projects
  • Weld Shop Projects
  • Group Service Learning Projects
  • Guest Speakers
